For agents

Not sure which company?

The installer, the lender, and the company that takes the payment can be three different names. Start with the newest document you have.

Where the name shows up

Monthly statement

Look at the name next to the payment address, the account number, or the coupon. That is often the servicer collecting the payment, which can be different from the company that installed the panels.

Solar contract

The agreement header usually names the lessor or the lender. A later notice in the same packet may say the account was assigned to a new servicer. Use the latest name.

Lien or UCC filing

On the title commitment, check the secured party on a UCC filing or fixture filing. That name can be the lender or the servicer who has to release or transfer the filing.

Monitoring app

The app on the seller’s phone shows who is watching production. The logo is a clue, not always the company that approves a sale. Account settings or the “about” screen sometimes list the servicer.

Names that changed

The name on an old contract is often not the company that handles the sale today.

  • SunPower and Sunnova

Both are serviced by SunStrong Management. Choose SunStrong if that is the name on the current statement. SunPower loan customers should use the lender named on the statement instead.

  • Vivint Solar

Vivint Solar is now Sunrun. Choose Sunrun unless the statement shows a different servicer.

  • Mosaic

Mosaic loans are serviced by Solar Servicing LLC. These loans are payoff only. The borrower’s transition letter names the servicer if the loan was sold.

  • Old Pueblo

Old Pueblo is now ICCU. Choose ICCU when that is the credit union on the account.

Utility account

The solar company transfer does not move the electric account. Confirm which utility bills the property. For many homes that is APS, SRP, or TEP. The buyer needs the utility account, and net metering or the interconnection agreement has to be handled with that utility as well.

  • APS

    Arizona Public Service

  • SRP

    Salt River Project

  • TEP

    Tucson Electric Power

  • Put the electric account in the buyer’s name with the utility that serves the house.
  • Ask that utility what it needs for net metering or interconnection on a sale.
  • Do this alongside the solar company transfer, not instead of it.

This checklist is a reminder only. It does not state a utility’s forms, fees, or phone numbers. Use the utility’s own instructions for the property.
